A possible cheaper alternative to Adobe software
Adobe provide powerful software, but at a price. Here's a possible alternative from Serif UK
22 February 2016

Adobe has been the market leader for graphics software for years.  Years and years.  That's not a problem in itself, but over the years the price of owning an up-to-date piece of Adobe software has increased.  In fact, now it's not really possible to own a piece of Adobe software; their subscription model means that you're tied into a monthly fee.

For major design agencies that's less of an issue - they can often afford to simply keep on paying the subscription.  But for smaller agencies, and for those who use Adobe software less frequently, many are feeling the pinch.

The price of the software is a remarkable £30.  That's right £30!

At this stage let me introduce Serif.  Here at Amazing Creative we've been a keen supporter of this UK based software company.  From humble beginnings they have steadily built their customer base, and offered a whole suite of graphic software titles - much like Adobe.  They've done really well, but realistically the software was not in the same league as the Adobe equivalents.

Well, 5 years ago, they believed it was possible to start from the ground up, and design a new set of software that could rival the Adobe CS suite, and at a fraction of the cost.

Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer are set to compete directly with CS Photoshop and CS Illustrator.  Released initially for Mac only, they've had rave reviews, and later this year look out for the beta release of the Windows versions.  The price of each is a remarkable £30.  That's right £30!

Can they bring down the mighty Adobe?  Well, if I'm honest I doubt it.  But for those who are fed up with paying Adobe their monthly subscriptions this could provide a welcome alternative.  Good luck Serif, we're behind you all the way.

Design should never say, “Look at me.” It should always say, “Look at this.”
