I decided to let the stormy debate settle on this one before making any comments. The new F1 logo was launched in 2017 to a flurry of criticism and acclimation. It really was the Marmite of all logos - people loved it, or loathed it.
The old and new logos...

I need to be honest. When I first saw this logo, I was not that impressed. It seemed a little obvious, a little cliched, and a little, err, "computer gamey". It felt like the logo from a Formula One racing game, more than the logo of the sport itself. Granted, it was slick, but it somehow lacked the prestige and heritage that Formula One has come to represent.
It's good; really good! I sometimes think new logos need a little time to settle down, some time to become familiar before people can appreciate them. The old logo in comparison now looks pretty dated; the new logo fresh and sharp in comparison. The new logo also opens up many more options for adaption than the previous version. Along with 3 new typefaces that were designed to compliment the new logo, I think Weiden & Kennedy have done an amazing job.
Finally, Futur had some great insights into the new logo. Here's what they had to say...
